TO SELECTED BODIES OF ELDERS ASSIGNED TO THE COVID-19
by pixel indecember 25, 2020. to selected bodies of elders assigned to the covid-19.
re: adjustments to arrangements for meeting family food needs during the covid-19 pandemic.
dear brothers:.

This is interesting, does it apply only to the U. S., or is it a world wide directive?
Suspending a government sponsered food program because of 'safety' concerns seems odd, especially when it goes on to say, get help from local government if it's available.
You know with the org that there is always more to the story.

Are there more Bethel layoffs in the immediate future?
by LongHairGal ini just saw a post on reddit: ‘wt are prepping the r&f for changes in the march/april meeting workbook’.. in the post the person noted what they read (for march 8) and it mentioned bethel adjustments and reference was made to 2015 when bethelites were let go.. if this happens (yet again) another bunch of people are being sent home to fend for themselves in the big bad world at an advanced age with little to no preparation.
even though this doesn’t surprise me, it could not come at a worse time with a global pandemic and massive job loss everywhere..congregations are already in turmoil because of so many who reached retirement age totally unprepared because they were told armageddon would be here before they reached that age.
this is in addition to all the other ‘needy’ and troubled types in the congregations looking for as$istance.. i hope any bethelites there have a plan and some people they can contact.

All that will be left at Warwick eventually will be the gb, a handful of software engineers, lawyers, and someone to clean the pool.

8 Year Old Can Decide If They Are Transgendered
by minimus inso says joe biden.. anybody agree with this?
?.
-

Nhs has recently changed the wording of their transgender guidelines and taken a much more cautious approach. They are now saying that hormone replacement therapy may not be reversible. That's food for thought.
Whatever you believe, it's an unnecessary medical procedure conducted on a child, who has limited understanding of the consequences.

Remind re: The "Cult" Label
by Simon inif you accuse people of being stuck in jw mindset or "cult-like" mentality simply because someone has a different view of politics than you, you'll be deleted.. it's insulting and a lazy substitute for having any real argument for a proper debate.. what next ... "you smell" ?.

I agree Simon,
It's good to break up discussions with other subjects besides what's happening in jw land.
I think that Trump era politics have, and will continue to seed discussions that, while starting with good intentions, end up devolving into toxicity. Not just here but on every forum. I think a lot of people are a bit over it.

I've appreciated the incredibly helpful information on this website for many years.
I hope it's ok to give some feedback. Maybe the whole issue of politics shouldn't be allowed the amount of oxygen that it gets here. It is, after all, a site that many people come to for a discussion about religious beliefs and doctrines of jws.
I'm not saying that politics, or any other subject shouldn't be discussed, but over the last few years, political subjects here have become a bit tiresome and detract from the objective of the website.
Just my 2 cents.

Adultery, Divorce, Remarry
by azl0058 inmy brother (who is a witness) has been married for 8 years.
he and his wife (also a witness) got married young, but he never really tried in the marriage, but she also lost his trust early on.
he says that it was his fault though because he pushed her away.. anyways, he met this new girl (not a witness) and told his wife that he wanted to separate.

At first I was going to reply and say that your brother sounds like a dirtbag.
But then I remembered that I've seen this situation play out quite a few times and partly, it's the unhealthy result of being in a strict cult.
There are plenty of remarried dubs, holding hands and smiling during the watchtower study who deliberately committed adultery in order to divorce their partners.

Its not my fault
by incognito2014 inassume for a minute that god created everything.
there was nothing before him and everything is because of him.
every single thing in the universe he is directly responsible for.. somehow the good stuff we should thank him for but the bad stuff is nothing to do with him, it is our fault.. this world that he created that was “good” has turned in to a right shitshow but despite being absolutely responsible for it from start to finish it is not his fault and in fact he has somehow turned this round so that instead of being to blame he is the person who is going to sort the problems and we should be thankful..

Pete, I remember hearing that dental problems causing gum disease and painful complications from that are the cause of most deaths in animals.
The bible says that all men sin and therefore must die. Ok, whatever, being sinful and have to die is one thing, but if death is payment, why is suffering necessary? Why can't everyone get 80 good years and then die? Why do kids have to starve to death? Why are babies born with fatal illnesses, diseases, deformaties? Isn't dying and losing everything and everyone enough payment.
These are the questions that make me believe that a loving God is a myth.

Is it possible for any Country to have “Reasonable” Gun Laws? What would they be?
by pistolpete inso the new biden/harris gun policies are starting to appear.
it’s not clear yet, what they will be.. some suggestions; confiscate all guns.------buyback programs in each state.. there is much talk on social media that if this happens, the pandemic, + all the riots, + all the damaged property, + all the annual murders in america, - put together-will be like a sunday afternoon picnic, compared to all the deaths and property damage that will result because of “civil uprising” by millions of 2nd amendments advocates and just plain gun lovers.
americans love guns!.

Mustard,
It's already been mentioned that in the U. S, the horse has already bolted, guns are everywhere and are easy to get. Does it make America safer? Tough question to answer. It doesn't stop crime. Does it even deter crime?
If a crim has the intention of armed assault or robbery, he already has the advantage because he initialises the crime. He has a gun ready, loaded and has intent. Unless the victim happens to have a loaded weapon within reach at the time of the crime, the crime will be committed. Any self defence instructor will tell you that if someone pulls out a gun and asks for something, the best option is usually to give them what they want. If someone is going to shoot you, they are going to shoot you.
Nothing gives me more satisfaction than seeing victims fight back and watching the tables turned on criminals while attempting to commit a crime and it sometimes happens but is it the exception or the rule?
Some of the arguments for open access to guns seem delusional.
